The next Virtual DNA meeting is on Thursday, April 18th, 2024 at 7 pm.

For the next several meetings, each month we will be pursuing a topic based on the Roberta Estes blog series "DNA: In Search of...." which she announced in
DNA: In Search of Series Launches. This post forms the foundation of the series and discusses the basics of each of the four types of DNA tests; autosomal, X DNA, Y DNA, and mitochondrial DNA. She describes when and how each can be utilized in our search, and when it can’t.

This overall approach was suggested by our member, Kathleen Graham. Each month there will be a link to the blog post appropriate to the topic.

The topic for this second meeting of the series will be,

DNA: In Search of…Full and Half Siblings

This series of articles is about searching for unknown family members, and cousins. The same techniques can be applied to close members as well as ancestors further back in time. We will discuss what factors are an indication of Endogamy.

Read the post and be prepared to discuss,

1. What did you learn? Any surprises?

2. What questions do you have or what wasn’t clear?

3. How does this impact your individual research going forward?

4. Any other ideas/suggestions? Any need for follow up?
