DNA Group Meeting

  • September 19, 2019
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • LDS Church, 220 North San Pedro Rd., San Rafael

The next DNA meeting will be on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 7 pm at the LDS Church.

This will be a workshop meeting on Evaluating Shared DNA.

The topics to be covered include,

1. Shared Ethnicity
2. Shared cM
3. Genetic Equivalence
4. Shared Matches
5. Joint Probabilities
6. Relationship Scenarios

At the end of each segment there will be a test example for the audience to try to see if they are understanding the concept. The moderator will then cover how the example might be answered. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions.
Please bring your laptop or tablet if you have one.

The format of this workshop will loosely follow that used by Paul Woodbury in the Family Tree Webinar, Evaluating Shared DNA. Note that you will need a subscription to watch this webinar.

We have members with a range of experience levels and we want to accommodate everyone, so come prepared to share your experiences and ask your questions no matter no matter what level you are at.

If you have something that you would like explained, do not be afraid to ask. We encourage everyone to speak out, no matter what level of experience they have. Those with more experience love the opportunity to discuss these issues, and we all learn something.

Please contact Vernon Smith to suggest a topic for a future meeting.

We meet each month (mostly) to discuss all aspects of Genetic Genealogy, and to provide a forum for discussion as well as time for answering any related questions.
