Presentation: The Remembrance Album of Harriet Pruden

How many ways are there to get to know your unknown Ancestors?  One way is through getting to know others’ from the same period!  Richard Pate will introduce you to a fantastic story of a girl at odds with her period of history…and how her family and friends tried, in a manner typical of their period of history, to persuade her not to elope and go west. Ohio, to Indiana, finally to California, Harriet’s friends’ inspirational poetry chronicles her life and travels from 1831 ending in 1909 in Santa Rosa. How this story came about, and how it influenced her whole life thereafter for 80 years is the tale author Pate will tell. A true American love story from the Old West.

If your curiousity is peeked, go to Richard Pate's website at www.RKPate.com. While you are there, visit the descendants’ page to see if you are related to someone in the album. If so, Rick Pate wants to talk to YOU.

About our Meetings:

The Genealogical Society General meetings are open to the public, with no admission fee. Feel free to drop in! Bring your friends as everyone is welcome. Come early and ask your burning genealogical questions of other members before the meeting.

We meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month, with a couple of exceptions. November's meeting is held on the 3rd Wednesday, due to Thanksgiving. There is no general meeting in December due to the holidays and our Winter Holiday Party.

Annually, several of our regularly scheduled meetings have a certain focus: April, we hold our Annual General Meeting and Elections (but there's usually a presentation also); May of each year we hold an Anniversary Celebration; and in September, we have a workshop.
