"Family History Walkabout"
Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 7:00 pm
See different ways to discover more about your family’s genealogy. Gather tips and clues from others. The focus will be on printed materials, either in hard-copy form or online, that have helped you to find out more about your ancestors. These may have told you specific details about your ancestors, or perhaps have provided background about their lives or the time in which they lived. Some of you may have written books about your ancestors, so we invite you to share them with us. Books bring your family to life by telling us their stories! Come and be amazed by how many ways people find out more about their family history. Here is an opportunity to “Walk-About” the room, ask questions, and start discussions. Each of us will hopefully come away with at least one new idea.
About our Meetings:
The Genealogical Society General meetings are open to the public, with no admission fee. Feel free to drop in! Bring your friends as everyone is welcome. Come early and ask your burning genealogical questions of other members before the meeting.
We meet on the 4th Thursday of every month, with a couple of exceptions. November's meeting is held on the 3rd Thursday, due to Thanksgiving. There is no general meeting in May, due to our Annual Picnic, nor in December, due to the holidays and our Winter Holiday Party.
Annually, several of our regularly scheduled meetings have a certain focus: April, we hold our Annual General Meeting and Elections (but there's usually a presentation also); May of each year we hold an Anniversary Celebration or Annual Picnic; and in September, we have a workshop.
