MCGS General Meeting

  • September 22, 2010
  • 7:30 PM - 10:30 PM
  • Marin Family History Center, 220 North San Pedro Rd., San Rafael

Annual Workshop

There will be three different workshops where members will choose from among three different topics. We will break into instruction / discussion groups. You will be able to attend either the Beginner's Class, which will last the entire evening, or you can attend the other two programs each of which will last half the evening and will be given twice.

BEGINNERS CLASS Presented by Jeffrey Vaillant.

Beginning genealogy and family history starts with each of us. Come start your genealogy and get some tips on how to start, where to start and free resources for your use.

LAND RECORDS Presented by Esther Mott & Cathy Gowdy.

These records are one way to break down brick walls. Find dates of residence, names of family members, exact locations and more.

IRISH GENEALOGY Presented by Pat & Tom McEntee.

Pat and Tom will share their attempts (successful and unsuccessful) in doing extensive research of their shared Irish Heritage. They will offer suggestions for you to have a positive experience searching for your own Irish Relative.

About our Meetings:

The Genealogical Society General meetings are open to the public, with no admission fee. Feel free to drop in! Bring your friends as everyone is welcome. Come early and ask your burning genealogical questions of other members before the meeting.

We meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month, with a couple of exceptions. November's meeting is held on the 3rd Wednesday, due to Thanksgiving. There is no general meeting in December due to the holidays and our Winter Holiday Party.

Annually, several of our regularly scheduled meetings have a certain focus: April, we hold our Annual General Meeting and Elections (but there's usually a presentation also); May of each year we hold an Anniversary Celebration; and in September, we have a workshop.
