can compete with them. However, we would like to share what our membership has found and
liked.
Here are some links that our Members recommend:

SFGenealogy.com. A valuable tool to connect people and help
them explore their connection to events in history.
SFGenealogy.com was initially formed to create a niche for San
Francisco genealogy and history on the internet, and has expanded to
neighboring counties. |

Worthy Research Resources!
Professional Genealogy Research Referrals
At these websites there is a bit more information about genealogy overall,
links to other organizations (see Resources on APG site or Genealogy Resources
on BCG site), including international organizations, and links to institutes /
universities. All organizations have some information of general interest at
their sites, including things to consider when hiring someone for help in
researching.
| BCG: Board for Certification of Genealogists (http://www.bcgcertification.org)
- "THE BOARD'S MISSION: To foster public confidence in genealogy
as a respected branch of history by promoting an attainable, uniform
standard of competence and ethics among genealogical practitioners; and
by publicly recognizing persons who meet that standard." The BCG has a
roster of Certified Genealogist. Use the "Find a Certified Person" link
on their website. Their principal postnomial is CG and this organization
provides "certification". This is one of two organizations that provide
licensing of professionals in the genealogical field and the promotion
of standards and ethics. |
| ICAPGen: (http://www.icapgen.org/)
"The International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional
Genealogists internationally recognized as ICAPGenSM sets standards for
the genealogical community through comprehensive written and oral
examinations." Their principal postnomial is AG and this organization
provides "accreditation". ICAPGen website also has a list of
researchers who have attained accreditation. |
| The Association of Professional Genealogists (APG) is "A
Professional Association For All Genealogists Supporting High Standards
in the Field of Genealogy". Their members include those who have been
certified, those who have been accredited, and those who have none of
these. Anyone with an interest in genealogy as a profession OR as a
network may join APG. They have a list of members at their website
http://www.apgen.org/. |
