The engagement of Miss
Flora HOWELL and Louis L. JANES has been formally announced by
the parents of the young lady. Miss
Howell is the daughter of Gen. and Mrs. Josiah Howell, the family residence
being at 1814 Washington Street. She
is a sister of Colonel Josiah R. Howell, who was recently appointed one of
the Board of Police Commissioners.
Miss Howell has traveled considerably, having spent two years in
Europe with her mother. She is highly
accomplished and particularly popular in society circles. The groom to be is the secretary and
general manager of the Tamalpais Land and Water Co., also secretary of the
Tamalpais Scenic Railroad and a leading figure in the town of Mill Valley. The wedding will take place in March. |

Miss Albertina WAHLE of San Francisco and S.H. CHEDA of San Rafael were married
Wednesday evening at the residence of the bride’s mother, Mrs. H.L. Smith,
1026 Pine Street. The groom, who is
the cashier of the Marin County Bank, is one of the most prominent
businessmen of San Rafael, with considerable wealth. The bride is the step-daughter of H.L.
Smith, secretary of the San Francisco Board of Trade. She is a granddaughter of the founder of
the Wahle piano house of New York.
She is a striking blonde and highly accomplished. Miss Mary J. Taylor and Miss Lillia Cheda
acted as maids of honor and Mr. George J. Miller acted in the capacity of
best man. They will reside in San
Rafael. |

village was all astir last Tuesday morning and a large crowd made for the
Catholic church to view the marriage ceremony of Miss Sarah FALLON with Mr. James PIERCE. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Father Rodgers. The bride is such a favorite in and around
Tomales that her loss will be keenly felt.
The groom was formerly employed at the Fallon Creamery, and is now
engineer on the California Northwestern Railway. The couple will make their home in Tiburon. |

couple went to the county seat about the New Year and were married. They kept the secret to themselves until a
day ago, when it became public. |

McCUE HINES |
James S. McCUE, better
known as Jim McCue, took out a license on the 19th to marry Mrs.
Katherine HINES. McCue is 70 years
old, and well known in Marin as well as in other portions of the State. It was only last year that he was divorced
by his wife after having lived 30 years with her. McCue in early days ran stage lines in northern California, and
during the gold excitement in the Klondike, he ran a transportation system
between Skagway and Dawson City. |

HOWELL was married to Louis L.
JANES. The wedding took place at the residence of
the bride’s parents, 1814 Washington Street, San Francisco. Owing to the serious illness of the
bride’s father, General Howell, only a few intimate friends were
present. The wedding was announced
last January for Easter, but due to the serious turn in the General’s health,
the wedding was hurried. The ceremony
was performed by Rev. John Hemphill.
Miss Geneva Kelcey officiated as maid of honor and Mr. Beverley
Letcher as best man. The bride was
accompanied by her brother, Col Jos. Howell.
They will reside in Mill Valley. |

A very pretty wedding
occurred at Los Gatos on Thursday last in which San Rafael parties
figured. The bride was Miss Clara GREER, sister of Mr. John L. Greer,
of San Rafael, and the groom was Mr. John H. MERRILL, who was a resident of San Rafael for some years, but
for two or three years has been at Dawson and Cape Nome. It was a church wedding conducted by Rev.
Barnhisel of the Presbyterian Church.
The bridesmaid being Miss Grace Hall of Los Gatos and Dr. Andrew
Hinniker of San Francisco the best man.
The newly married couple will reside in Oakland. |
