2008

Month Conference
Friday, January 11, 2008 - 9:00 am - 11:00 am & 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Marian Smith, National Agency Historian for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service at USCIS headquarters in Washington DC, is making a rare visit to the San Francisco Bay Area to present two NARA-sponsored workshops on Federal immigration records research resources and history on Friday, January 11, 2008, at the National Archives Pacific Region-San Francisco.

Historians, genealogists, and others are invited to attend this rare opportunity to hear a definitive national-level Federal immigration records and history, offered free at no charge to the public by USCIS and the National Archives.

Historian Smith notes that at both sessions, there will be ample time for discussion with attendees, with discussion of common research problems or issues. Researchers with questions about a record they found should bring a copy of the record to the workshop.

While the first session will address U.S. immigration and naturalization records and history, the second will focus on the major Federal collections of Chinese and Asian American immigration research resources throughout the U.S.
