Feel free to drop in! Presentation: Finding Both Halves of Military Bounty Land RecordsThe federal government gave away free land to men who served in the military forces between 1776 and 1855. This give-away produced two sets of files. Learn about the often-overlooked, application files in NARA ’s military collection. Then learn how to find the nearly-ignored, surrendered-warrant files amongst the land records.Presented by: Barbara Leak Barbara E. Leak has more than 20 years experience as a genealogy researcher and educator. A member of the Genealogical Speakers Guild, she has lectured at conferences and workshops sponsored by the National Genealogical Society, Federation of Genealogical Societies, California State Archives, and numerous libraries and societies throughout northern California. She is president of the Genealogical & Historical Council of Sacramento Valley and a California State Genealogical Alliance Distinguished Service Award recipient.
