Feel free to drop in! Presentation: Topic Lists, Indexes and Special Collections - A Boon to the Genealogical Researcher
An understanding of the many types of the many lists and indexes available,
where to find them and how to use them is important to the genealogical
researcher. Knowing the pitfalls of indexes and how to overcome them easily
can save returning to the same source at a later time looking for the name
you might have found to begin with. Special collections offer exciting
possibilities for researchers. This talk will discuss where to find special
collections, what they might contain and how to access them.
Presented by: Cath Madden Trindle, CG
Cath Madden Trindle, CGSM is the treasurer of the California State
Genealogical Alliance and Publication Chair for the San Mateo County
Genealogical Society. In that role she has edited the Naturalization Index
Series, the Schellens indexing project, and coauthored the SMCGS Tree
Climbing Guides. Cath earned a Certificate in British Research from BYU
but her research specialty lies in the San Francisco Bay Area where she can
get her hands on original records. Cath speaks on Genealogical Storytelling
and Irish and Scottish Research among other topics throughout California.
