Beginners' Breakfast Meeting - hosted by Cathy Gowdy

Even though it's called "Beginners", all - MCGS members and anyone new to genealogy - are invited for breakfast the first Saturday of each month at Star Restaurant in Novato.

It is a great opportunity for some good food, to meet and chat with people interested in genealogy, and to discuss your questions. This is also a time to welcome those interested in genealogy and new to the Society.

So, for a chance for you to dip your feet in the water, get to know others in an informal environment, and get some questions answered, we hope to see you the first Saturday of each month.

Directions: Take DeLong Ave exit and go west. Curve left onto Diablo Ave. At Novato Blvd, turn right.

General "how to" functions and features for file management on your computer. General "how to" steps to create and manage backups on a computer. Discuss varioius options such as external hard disk drive and off site backup using the Internet.

Genealogical Software Working Groups

As a follow-up to forming groups who use the same genealogy software program, this meeting will be a working meeting for each of these groups.

There will also be assistance for those who wish to learn more about what software they might want to obtain.

About our Meetings:

The Genealogical Society General meetings are open to the public, with no admission fee. Feel free to drop in! Bring your friends as everyone is welcome. Come early and ask your burning genealogical questions of other members before the meeting.

We meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month, with a couple of exceptions. November's meeting is held on the 3rd Wednesday, due to Thanksgiving. There is no general meeting in May, due to our Annual Picnic, nor in December, due to the holidays and our Winter Holiday Party.

Annually, several of our regularly scheduled meetings have a certain focus: April, we hold our Annual General Meeting and Elections (but there's usually a presentation also); May of each year we hold an Anniversary Celebration or Annual Picnic; and in September, we have a workshop.

Wholly Genes has announced their 8th Annual Genealogy Conference and Cruise. The cruise will be on the West Coast this year via the inland passage to Alaska. Departs and returns to Seattle. Click here for more information.

If any MCGS Members are planning to attend, book early as the cruise fills up fast.

You may want to talk with other attendees to discuss ride sharing or travel plans and make a genealogy inspired vacation of it.
